CouncilCommercial property lettings
The council has a portfolio of 200 shops. From time to time certain of these units become available for letting. These lettings are managed by Corporate Property Services.
The council has only recently started to market those vacant shop units it had available. When the next list of available units becomes available, these will be displayed on this webpage as well as advertised in the council’s One Stop Shops.

Application
If you have found a vacant shop unit, as advertised, you may wish to submit an Expression of Interest Form online.
This form is purely an expression of interest and is the first stage in applying for a council shop unit. This step is designed to give the council core data on the applicant, such as name and address, as well as their proposed use for a particular shop.
What happens next
When considering an application, the council looks at the services on offer to residents and whether there is a substantial balance on offer in the local community.
Where an application is considered to suitable, applicants are shortlisted and you may be sent a second, much more detailed, application form.
Once the more detailed application form is completed, then interviews before a final decision is taken to offer the lease to the applicant.
