The FiLM Office

This is not part of Tower Hamlets Council, but the FiLM Office acts as the interface between filmmakers, the council and the local community to promote the borough as a world class film location.

As well as providing positive publicity for Tower Hamlets, the work of the FiLM Office also generates income for the benefit of borough residents.

The FiLM Office serves the council, community and the film industry by:

• encouraging the use of council-owned premises as film production bases
• providing guidance and support to council departments on dealing with and earning income from filming activities
• promoting the services and facilities of local businesses and residents which may benefit from filming
• providing a location finding and securing service
• ensuring that filmmakers are adequately insured against any liability which may arise as a result of their activities
• giving guidance on the enforcement of the legal, public health and safety requirements for filming

The FiLM Office also has a regulatory role in ensuring that film production companies operate within the law and do not cause disruption to local businesses.
