Staying in Hospital

It is possible to receive benefits while you are in hospital to help you to pay your bills. Please follow the following link to apply for this service:

Going into hospital may have an effect on any benefits or financial support you may receive, including Disability Living Allowance.

Most social security benefits are paid to help with day-to-day needs. If you go into hospital or someone you claim for goes into hospital, the National Health Service (NHS) takes over responsibility for some of these needs. This means the amount of benefit paid may go down during a stay in hospital.

Pet care when you are in hospital

If you own a pet and you have to go into hospital, you may need someone to look after your pet.

The most common option is to ask a family member, good neighbour or friend to help. If this is not possible, you may need to contact a local kennel or cattery for cats and dogs. You should be able to find details of these in your local telephone directory.

You could also ask your local veterinary surgeon or the local dog warden to suggest some options.

The Cinnamon Trust at www.cinnamon.org.uk - based in Cornwall, they have 4.500 registered volunteers across the UK. They may be able to help you find pet care if you have to go into hospital.
