Day care centres

Tower Hamlets runs five day care centres mostly for people of retirement age. The aim of these centres is to support people to live independently in their own homes.

Each centre has a range of services and activities depending on the needs of the people attending. The emphasis is on meeting individual needs, which may be therapeutic or recreational.

The centres arrange visits by chiropodists, opticians, dentists, as well as hairdressers and personal care advisors. Activities can include arts and crafts, music and keep fit, independent living skills and discussion groups.

Meals are provided each day and transport can be arranged. The Sonali Gardens Day Centre has Bengali/Sylheti speaking escorts and provides Halal food.
