Specialist equipment for adults who are blind or partially sighted.
Subject to assessing your needs, Social Services can provide equipment for people who are blind or partially sighted. This can include ‘talking’ clocks, watches and key rings, canes, specialist glasses, etc.
The eligibility criteria we use aims to promote independence to enable people to access services.
For instance, if a deaf or hard of hearing elderly person has care needs and their carer needs access to their home, then providing a flashing light or extra loud door bell will allow the carer to gain access and they will know the carer is at the door. This is a vital piece of equipment.
