Our vision and key priorities for 2006/7

Adult Services works within the overall planning framework of the Council. Our business planning process is driven by the core commitments to vulnerable residents set out in the Community Plan and the Strategic Plan. Business planning activity is focused around the theme of "Living Well" within the Local Strategic Partnership, but Adult Services engages in every other theme at some point.

The importance of a shared commitment and shared values across all parts of the council - and outside - is demonstrated clearly by Adult Services' adoption of the corporate vision for the residents of the borough. Within this overall vision, Adult Services has identified six key priorities that will consolidate core business and deliver further service improvements. All key business objectives and targets for 2006/7 are set out within these six areas

Our vision

  • To deliver accessible, responsive, timely and appropriate adult care services for a diverse community
  • To promote independence and choice for vulnerable adults
  • To ensure that care and support services are experienced by service users as ‘joined up’ across organisational boundaries
  • To promote effective working between Adult Social Care and Children’s Services
  • To support vulnerable adults in making a positive contribution to their community
  • To improve the links between targeted services for vulnerable adults and universal public and commercial services
