Getting women into public life

Women make up 51% of the overall population in Britain and 49% of the population in Tower Hamlets. But women only hold 35% of national public appointments. Out of 646 of our political representatives in the House of Commons, only 121 are female.

Some of the skills you use in your daily life are the same skills required to:

  • Be a local councillor
  • Be a court magistrate
  • Become a school governor
  • Be a health representative
  • Work as a special constable

If you want to find out more about how to become more involved in public life you can visit the Women into Public Life (WiPL) website.

It’s filled with information to help you make a difference, from training courses to hints and advice articles to videos where women share their experiences of getting involved.

Visit www.womenintopubliclife.com today and find out how you could make a difference.
