About community resources
The work of the team relates to the voluntary sector in a number of ways, including:
Community development work
The Community resource team develops and implements, policies, initiatives and corporate procedures to support the borough's voluntary sector and to enhance the ability of the community to generally define and meet its needs.
Financial support
Through mainstream grant aid, service level agreements, contracts, and various regeneration programmes
Capacity building
Through officer support, information, knowledge and skills development, empowering groups and assisting them in their development
Joint work / partnerships
Through joint planning, joint projects, membership of partnership boards and consultative forums
Health & regeneration
Contributing to a range of health and regeneration initiatives through the facilitation of interdisciplinary and interagency working in a community context. The programmes include the Health Action Zone, New Deal for Communities and Sure Start
Advice review
Implementing the Tower Hamlets Community Legal Service Partnership in conjunction with its steering group. This work involves coordinating regular meetings of the Community Advocacy Advice & Legal Services Providers Network, overseeing implementation of quality standards and developing training and support programmes for community advocates. The work includes the development of a local response to the government's community legal service proposals
Black & Ethnic Minority Organisations Development Fund
Provision of capacity building and training and support programmes for Black & Minority Ethnic-run organisations
