Environmental health

Tower Hamlets Council health and safety team provide the following services to residents and businesses in the borough:

Health and safety enforcement – Health and safety enforcement of laws in retail, warehouses, offices, leisure centres etc. Investigating accidents involving employees and members of the public.

Communicable disease control – Control the spread of infection from food and non-food sources e.g. salmonellas, legionella, investigate food poisoning outbreaks.

Licensing – Covering public safety, security and well being at events in the borough.

Massage and special treatments – Covering inspections of treatments hair salons, beauty parlours, nail parlours etc.

Pet shops– To ensure that animal welfare is maintained during the sale of animals.
