Abandoned vehicles

Tower Hamlets does its best to remove vehicles abandoned in the borough as quickly as possible. There are however a number of procedures that we have to carry out by law before removal can take place.

If we think that a vehicle is a danger to the general public or is causing an obstruction we can arrange to have the vehicle removed within 24 hours.

There are a number of procedures that must be carried out by law and in most circumstances, it may take several days before the vehicle is removed from the street.

Tower Hamlets Council also offers a free disposal permit for residents who no longer want their vehicles. Download a surrender form (pdf 14k)

You can also report an abandoned vehicle in the following ways:

• Contact your local housing office for a vehicle abandoned on an estate;
• Telephone 020 7364 5003 for a vehicle abandoned on a public road.
