Homeless assessment team
If the Enquiry & Prevention team is satisfied that homelessness cannot be prevented and there is reason to believe that the applicant is eligible, homeless or threatened with homelessness and in priority need for accommodation, the case will be transferred to the Assessment Team.
We will carry out enquiries to confirm that the three requirements mentioned above have been met, assess whether the applicant has made himself intentionally homeless and determine if there is any local connection - if necessary, temporary accommodation will be provided while these enquiries are being carried out.
Our target is for 90% of cases to be assessed, and a decision letter issued, within 33 days. Once a decision has been reached, the applicant will be notified in writing and full reasoning will be given for any negative decision, alongside a referral to the Housing Options team to discuss other avenues open to secure alternative housing.
