Housing social work team

As part of the Homeless Service, we provide a Social Work service specifically for people who are having their homeless application investigated or who have had their homeless application accepted.

We intervene and provide support for a range of issues related to Children and Families, Adults, Older and Young People. We complete Initial Assessments on all clients aged 0 -17 years old, and carry out mediation with young people and their parent(s) or carers to resolve homelessness.

We carry out Child In Need and Community Care Assessments as required and where clients have significant needs, i.e. Mental Health, Learning Difficulties, Substance Abuse, etc., they will be referred directly to the teams that deal with those specialised issues.

Please note the following important points:

• We are only able to work with clients who have had their homeless application accepted or are owed a duty of care – however, we will, where appropriate, advise or refer to other Area Social Work teams or other agencies as appropriate
• We cannot provide financial assistance to clients who are in receipt of the appropriate benefits.
