Homeless visiting team

The Visiting Team provides a regular customer care function for applicants who have been accepted for rehousing and are residing in temporary accommodation. We ensure household details are correct and will amend client’s records if there are any changes to the household composition, including any medical problems, which may affect the type of property required. This aspect is extremely important to ensure that any offer received is appropriate to the family’s needs and reduces the incidents of unsuitable offers being made.

Visiting Officers are also responsible for identifying instances of misuse, intentional or otherwise, of temporary accommodation thereby helping to increase the number of properties available for applicants. We are the link between accepted applicants and other council departments, advising on issues including rents and benefits, landlord and property liaison and related accommodation issues. We also provide information on how to bid for properties and advise applicants on factors that may affect the type or size of property applicants should be bidding for.

Contact us

Contact the Visiting Team, if you need advice on bidding, any changes to your household, or any related questions concerning your stay in temporary accommodation.
