Homeless and disabled?
Housing occupational therapy team (OT)
This service is for people who have applied to be rehoused on extenuating health grounds.
The Housing OT team (based in the Lettings Service) work only with people applying to be rehoused on extenuating health grounds, who require an assessment to identify physical barriers to independence in their own or proposed new home.
Please note that the Housing OT Team are not asked to assess every applicant with a disability.
The Housing OT team conduct assessments to determine what adaptations can be made to a person’s home to improve their activities of daily living (mobility, washing, cooking, travel etc.).
Disabled facilities grant
You may be entitled to apply for a disabled facilities grant. Your assessing OT can provide advice.
Assessment for extenuating health award
If you are awaiting assessment for the extenuating health award please speak to the lettings’ client support team.
Accompanied viewing with housing OT
If you are disabled and have been offered a property to view you may be entitled to an accompanied visit with a Housing OT. This can help determine the suitability of the home and whether it can be adapted. This service is to help clients make informed choices. Contact the Housing OT team to enquire about this service.
