Service directory

This booklet is intended to help older people, regardless of their current landlord, and professionals who work with older people. It provides a directory of specialist housing options for older people in Tower Hamlets. It will help you understand your housing options and what you can expect from the variety of schemes on offer, so you can make an informed choice. Sheltered housing makes up the largest proportion of schemes. Extra care sheltered, residential and care homes, and schemes designated for people aged over 40, 50 and 55 are also available.

This booklet is not an exhaustive list of all housing available in the borough. It only includes housing schemes specifically for older people.

For schemes for people with mental health or drug and alcohol issues you should contact related charities or housing providers. For a list of services for people with vulnerabilities refer to supporting people services.

Also included are some key services. Your eligibility for these services may be affected by your type of landlord (i.e. the council, housing association, private landlord, etc.). Please be aware that if you are a tenant of a housing association or private landlord then they are your first contact for matters relating to rents and rent arrears, repairs, etc.

Age Concern Tower Hamlets have also produced the 60+ guide which provides a comprehensive guide to services for older people. See also advice & information for older people.
