Getting involved in shaping Council services

If you feel strongly about housing issues and want to make a difference, we want to hear from you. You decide when and how you contribute.

I want to have a say on how services can be improved, what does this involve?

There will be a number of ways in which you can get involved and you can tell us which is most suitable for you– attending workshop sessions or open days, completing surveys through the post or on the telephone. We will write to you or call you when there is an opportunity and you decide if you wish to take part.

How much time will it take?

This will depend on how you want to get involved. A survey on the phone will take less time than attending a workshop.  At open days or drop-in sessions you can attend at your convenience and stay for as much or as little of the session as you like.

What experience or skills do you need to get involved?

The most important thing to bring is your experience of using council services and your enthusiasm for making improvements. If there is a way we can make it easier for you to take part, please let us know.

Will there be learning or training opportunities available for people who get involved?

There is a range of training opportunities available to residents who join the Register, including free computer courses. For more information, please contact the consultation and participation team.

Will I be paid?

This is voluntary participation, however the Council may help with out of pocket expenses in some circumstances and depending on the project.

How do I join?

You can become a member by completing and returning a Getting Involved Register Form to the Consultation and Participation team.

The information you provide will only be used for the purposes of getting in touch with you about opportunities for you to get involved.

Download the registration form (PDF 63kb)

Or contact the Consultation and Participation team.

What will happen next?

Once you’ve registered, your details will be entered onto the Getting Involved Register. The Council will use this to get in touch with you to let you know about opportunities to get involved.
