Leaseholder participation

Leaseholders - having a say in how services are delivered

There are three main ways to get involved:

1. Recognised tenants and residents associations (TRAs)

Tenant and resident associations are groups of local people who get together to form an organisation to look after their interests. Contact your local housing office to find out if an association covers your block.

2. Area residents panels

These panels are made up of tenants and leaseholders. They look at a range of housing issues and review the effectiveness of services.

Any council tenant or leaseholder living in the borough can nominate themselves to sit on the panels, provided they have relevant skills, knowledge or experience of working for the benefit of their community.

You can get information about your local panel from local housing offices, one-stop shops, libraries, and tenants and residents associations.

Tower Hamlets Citizen Advice Bureau (CAB)

The Tower Hamlets CAB also hold leaseholder forums twice a year, as part of its partnership agreement with the council. Please contact 0870 126 4014 for further information.
