You could not have chosen to join us at a more exciting time in the borough’s history. Tower Hamlets is one of the most diverse, dynamic and vibrant places in the capital and makes a major contribution to London’s status as a world class city.

We are justly very proud of our staff and work hard to recruit and retain the brightest and best people in order to provide consistently excellent services to our residents.

We exist to improve the quality of life for everyone who lives and works in the borough and this vision lies at the heart of all that we do. Quite simply, we believe that our residents deserve the very best all the time and we aim to make excellence our standard.

We are well on the way to achieving that as evidenced by the Audit Commission rating us as being in the top six most improving councils in England. We are officially rated as a 3-star council, ‘performing well’ and 'improving strongly'. We have every chance of moving to 4-stars this summer.

Naturally, we welcome that independent judgement of our performance but I am clear that satisfied residents are the ultimate benchmark of success. That is why we keep a close check on a wide range of customer feedback and continually look for creative and innovative ways of doing things better, quicker and for the best possible value.

Like any organisation, Tower Hamlets depends on team work for our success and that is why we attach so much importance to staff learning and development.
