BSF – for parents

Young people are the future of Tower Hamlets and Building Schools for the Future (BSF) is the biggest investment in schools the Borough has ever seen.

Young people are at the heart of the BSF programme and BSF is about offering them the opportunity to achieve their potential. It will provide modern 21st century schools to support new ways of teaching and learning.

You may be concerned about disruption to lessons and timetables whilst works are being carried out. The BSF programme has been designed to minimise disruption to teaching wherever possible. Schools will be keeping close contact with parents throughout the programme and you will have the opportunity to have your say as plans develop.

BSF is also intended to provide facilities for use by the whole community , not just school pupils. There will be opportunities for you to benefit directly from this investment, for example by using school facilities for sports or evening classes.
As you may know, the Government wants to make it easier for parents to have a say in how schools are run. You can read a summary of the proposals put forward in the Schools White Paper: Higher Standards, Better Schools for All on the DfES website. Some of these proposals are being taken forward through the Education and Inspections Bill 2006.

News and opportunities to get involved are posted on the website regularly, come back and see what’s new.

To see what schools regenerated under BSF could look like, go to our useful documents page, and check out the ‘example designs’.
