BSF – for pupils & young people

Building Schools for the Future is an exciting project aimed at transforming educational outcomes for young people. This means that schools will be modernised to provide 21st century learning environments. New ways of learning will be encouraged, young people will benefit from improved learning environments and have access to a range of new subjects.

Every secondary school in the borough will be rebuilt or refurbished over a 15 year period. The schools in most need have been prioritised in Wave 3 .

Central Government have allocated Tower Hamlets £180 million to carry out this work, which will include providing computers and ICT equipment, making school buildings more accessible and easier to move around in, and modernising learning areas to make them pleasant places to work and study.

Each school is developing an Education Vision which will set out what they want to achieve from BSF. Young people will have the opportunity to have their say about what they want the schools of the future to be like.

Joined-up design for BSF is a great opportunity to be involved in the design of a school, or just to learn more about the design process. Read more about it on the recent news page.

To see what schools regenerated under BSF could look like, go to our useful documents page, and check out the ‘example designs’.
