Children's Information Service

The Tower Hamlets Children's Information Service (CIS) is based at:

189 Roman Road
London E2 0QY
Open Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. Extended phone service on Wednesdays from 8am - 7pm.

It provides information on:

• childcare for 0-14 year olds
• children's services
• childcare jobs and training
• financial assistance for childcare
• developing childcare services

The CIS also runs outreach sessions and stock extensive literature and information that can help parents, providers and employers with childcare issues.

Assessment of childcare

The Tower Hamlets Early Years Team has carried out a sufficiency assessment of childcare in the borough.

This assessment measures the type and extent of childcare available. We are required to do this under the Childcare Act 2006.

The process helps us identify if there are gaps in childcare and supports us in planning to better meet the needs of parents.

The assessment found that parents in Tower Hamlets are, for the most part, able to access the childcare they need.
