Schools library services - Information & advice
The Schools library services provides information and advice on the management and organisation of school libraries and learning resources. Schools, nurseries and playgroups in Tower Hamlets and Hackney may subscribe to this service.
The service aims to:
- Help schools to promote their libraries
- Help schools to promote the enjoyment of reading and to enrich the National curriculum and National primary and secondary learning strategies
- Help schools develop library policy
- Provide training and advice on the management and organisation of learning resources in schools
- Provide training for teaching assistants in selecting learning resources for school libraries
- Provide the services of a professional librarian to work in schools on a regular basis to manage the school library and teacher resources
- Provide schools with a wide range of high quality learning resources that reflect the multicultural and diverse community in Tower Hamlets in a balanced and accurate way
- Provide schools with development and educational resources from the council’s Humanities education centre.
