Training & talks
The Schools library services provides training and gives talks for staff working in schools who are responsible for organising, buying and promoting learning resources.
The Humanities education centre also provides training which promotes the values, aims and principles of development education and global citizenship. Training sessions include how to set up educational links between schools, how to run a business that aims to improve the community, citizenship, philosophy for children and story writing.
Schools, nurseries and playgroups in Tower Hamlets and Hackney may subscribe to this service.
The service aims to:
- Help schools to promote the enjoyment of reading and to enrich the National curriculum and National primary and secondary learning strategies
- Provide schools with a wide range of high quality learning resources that reflect the multicultural and diverse community in Tower Hamlets in a balanced and accurate way
- Provide training and professional advice on the management and organisation of learning resources in schools
- Provide the services of a professional librarian to work in schools on a regular basis to manage the school library and teacher resources
- Provide schools with development and educational resources from the council’s Humanities education centre.
