Special collections currently maintained

Each of the London borough and Home County library services has undertaken to collect books and recordings systematically within certain areas allocated to them. This is to ensure that there is a good and comprehensive stock holding within the region.

The individual library services make efforts to buy all new books and recordings issued within their special areas of responsibility, in addition to their normal stock purchases. These are then made available to all the other library services via the Interloans system.

Below are detailed the Tower Hamlets Libraries special areas of responsibility.

Literature

• Joint Fiction Reserve: Authors ST-SZ
• French, German, Polish, Bengali, Urdu, and Somali literature.

Music

• Schubert (CD only)
• Jazz: BRV- CHAL

Access to special collections

As these are special collections borrowing is through reservations only. Reservations can be placed at your local Idea Store or library.
