The reference and information service is to help you get the information you need. As well as answering general reference enquiries, we provide information on a wide range of topics.

Specialist staff experienced in information work, are always on hand to help you with your enquiries should you need it.

The reference library is always available for you to conduct personal research, to study or read in quiet surroundings.

As well as reference books the reference library offers a wide range of reference data services. Here is a list of just a few things the reference library can help you with:

• Photocopiers (copies A4 10p, A3 20p)
• Newspapers and periodicals, including short back files held in hard copy with longer files of many titles available online
• Local information
• Free access to online subscription services
• Council information including current council minutes, agendas and report compiled by council departments
• Statistics both local and national on such issues as population and employment
• Electoral registers
• Education Course information, prospectuses, careers information
• Business information Trade and business directories, company information.
• Official publications e.g. Stationery Office, UN, EC.
