Tower Hamlets Metropolitan Police community safety unit
Tower Hamlets Metropolitan Police has two community safety units with dedicated teams of officers responsible for the effective investigation of:
- Domestic violence;
- Crime and anti-social behaviour motivated by racial hatred;
- Crime and anti-social behaviour motivated
by hatred of lesbian and gay men.
The unit also prepares reports for other agencies and offers a referral system for victims of crime to other agencies.

BTP officers have the same powers as Metropolitan Police officers, but
operate on public transport.

London fire & emergency planning authority
The London Fire Brigade regularly tackles arson in the borough. The
Fire Safety Department is responsible for inspecting public buildings
for fire and safety regulations. The department runs various projects
such as the Junior Fire Setters Scheme, which is aimed at young people
who have been, or may be using fire for arson and ‘vandalism’.
