Street crime

Street crime (which constitutes personal robbery and snatches) is a London wide problem. In Tower Hamlets the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and the Metropolitan Police have made tackling street crime a priority.

Consider the following advice:

  • Always be aware of potential threat
  • Reduce the amount of cash or valuables carried
  • Remove or cover jewellery and valuables
  • Always carry bags in a secure manner
  • Carry a personal attack alarm
  • Follow safe routes
  • Travel with another person whenever possible
  • Always park your vehicle carefully when a late return is planned
  • Seek busy, well-lit locations if the threat of attack is feared
  • Take care when using a cash-point.
