Street crime
Street crime (which constitutes personal robbery and snatches) is a London wide problem. In Tower Hamlets the Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnership and the Metropolitan Police have made tackling street crime a priority.
Consider the following advice:
- Always be aware of potential threat
- Reduce the amount of cash or valuables carried
- Remove or cover jewellery and valuables
- Always carry bags in a secure manner
- Carry a personal attack alarm
- Follow safe routes
- Travel with another person whenever possible
- Always park your vehicle carefully when a late return is planned
- Seek busy, well-lit locations if the threat of attack is feared
- Take care when using a cash-point.
