Youth offending

Crime committed by young people is a serious issue.

We have a number of schemes in Tower Hamlets designed to prevent young people from re-offending through addressing the causes of criminal behaviour and offering help and support. These schemes include:

• Preventative services
• Referral orders
• Community rehabilitation orders
• Reparation orders
• Supervision orders
• Parenting orders

The youth offending multi-agency team, comprises police, local authority (social services, education, youth service), probation and health.

The team works with young people from arrest to sentencing. The team provides services to the youth court, works with young people given final warnings from the police and those given community sentences.

The team also organises diversionary activities to prevent young people entering the criminal justice system.
