Character appraisals & management guidelines

There are 50 Conservation Areas in Tower Hamlets, all have recently adopted Conservation Area Character Appraisals and Management Plans, which have been the subject of wide public consultation.

Character appraisals describe the architectural and historic character and significance of each area, and the management guidelines provide guidance to residents, businesses and other stakeholders about how the character can be preserved and enhanced.
