Statement of Community Involvement 2008
The Statement of Community Involvement sets out ways in which local people and organisations can get involved in planning decisions that will affect their street, estate or the wider area – large and small. Following independent Examination held on Wednesday 10th October 2007 by the Planning Inspectorate, the document was found sound as has been formally adopted by the Council on the 11th February 2008. Please find below the adopted version of the Statement of Community Involvement and its adoption statement.
The publication of the Town and Country Planning (Local Development) (England) Regulations 2008 means some changes are required to the Council's adopted Statement of Community Involvement. Whilst the principles are not affected by changes to the Regulations the process for consulting has been.
Under the old regulations (2004), the plan making process for development plan documents included an ‘Issues and Options’ (regulation 25) phase and a ‘Preferred Options’ phase (regulation 26). The latest changes in June 2008 have sought to combine these two phases giving the local authority flexibility in how it drafts a plan based on the need of local residents.
This change in Regulations affects the drafting in parts of Attachment B of the Statement of Community Involvement as this section relates to both Regulation 25 and 26 of the old regulations.
All consultation on the Core Strategy will continue to be designed to meet and exceed our commitments outlined in our ‘promises to you’. A programme of the upcoming consultation events relating to the process of considering Options and Alternatives is available.
