The Tower Hamlets partnership

A new way of working

The Tower Hamlets Partnership is about better services for local people and delivering the goals of the borough's Community Plan.

It brings together all of the key stakeholders - residents, the council, the police, the health service, public services, voluntary and community groups, faith communities and businesses. In particular, it gives residents a much stronger say in the way that services are provided.

Local residents have told us that their priorities for change are:

• to reduce crime and make people feel safer
• to improve health and social care, to improve the environment
• to create more and better job opportunities for local people
• to raise educational standards
• to provide a rich variety of artistic, cultural and leisure opportunities.
  

The partnership aims to ensure that all local people benefit from these improvements and that no-one is excluded.

Better services

Local people have told us that they are not interested in who provides services. They are only interested in seeing the improvements that they need, want and deserve. Those in the Tower Hamlets Partnership who currently provide services will need to learn to work together in new and different ways to make sure that this happens.

Like all partnerships, the Tower Hamlets Partnership needs goodwill, understanding and hard work from all partners if it is to flourish and be successful.

What the Partnership does

The partnership will:

• oversee the borough's Community Plan
• promote maximum co-operation between services.
• strengthen communication
• give local people a stronger voice in how services are delivered
• bring together plans and projects and establish agreed priorities
• set ambitious but achievable targets for improvement
• make the most of available resources
• make sure that plans are implemented and promises delivered
• establish and deliver a Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy
• make the borough a better place to live, work and visit
