Older person's travel pass

If you’re over 60, you are entitled to a free travel pass

Called a ‘freedom pass’, the over 60 free travel pass gives you free transportation on London's public transport network.

You can use your freedom pass during the following times:

• on tube, bus, DLR and Tramlink services - from 9am Monday to Friday and at any time on Saturday, Sunday and public holidays
• on national rail services - from 9.30am Monday to Friday (from 9am on certain routes).

If you have been granted a disabled person’s freedom pass and are also over 60, you should not also apply for an older persons’ freedom pass. Freedom passes are funded by the council, and only one freedom pass per person is permitted.

How to apply

To apply for the freedom pass:

• 1. Collect an application form from your local post office
• 2. Complete and return the application form to the post office.

You must also provide:

• proof of name and age
• proof of address
• two recent passport size photographs of yourself if it is your first application, or your existing freedom pass photocard if you are renewing your pass.
