Business permits
Business parking permits are issued for the controlled parking zone in which the business is situated.
The permit allows the vehicle to park in business bays, permit bays and the appropriate multi-use bays. The vehicle may be parked for unlimited time in the zone printed on the permit and you may also park in these bays in any other zone in Tower Hamlets for up to three hours in any one day. Only one visit to a different zone is allowed in any one day.
You cannot apply for an on-street permit if your business address is in a car-free development.
Who can apply for business parking permits?
You can apply for a business parking permit if all of the following conditions apply to you:
- Your business is situated within the Borough
- You use your vehicle during your working day as part of your job
- You keep and use a vehicle of the type shown in the declaration on the application form

How to apply
To apply for a business permit you need to supply the following:
- A completed and signed application form (Originals only)
- A letter from your company on headed paper stating why you need a business permit to be able to do your job
- Vehicle proof which can be either the vehicle registration document or the insurance documents, or a letter from your company if you drive a company car.
- If the vehicle does not belong to you, you MUST be a named driver on the insurance documents.

How much do business permits cost?
From 1 June 2008, the price of an on-street parking permit depends on either your vehicle’s carbon dioxide emissions (CO2 g/km), or engine size (cc) if your CO2 emission is not logged on your Registration Certificate (V5C) by the DVLA.
You are able to purchase a parking permit for 12 months, 6 months or 3 months - prices also depend on the period of the permit you wish to purchase. A pricing schedule is attached to the application form.
