Market Trader

This scheme is designed to assist market traders operating in the various markets within Tower Hamlets. Permits are issued to named traders and allow parking in designated market traders’ bays and business bays for unlimited time throughout the Borough.

As with any other permit, if you are seeking to buy one for the first time, you need to complete an application form (pdf 82k)

To apply for a market traders’ permit you need to supply:

• A completed and signed application form (Originals only).
• A copy of your Tower Hamlets Market Traders’ Licence
• Vehicle proof which can be either the vehicle registration document or the insurance documents, or a letter from your company if you drive a company car.
• If the vehicle does not belong to you, you MUST be a named driver on the insurance documents.
• The correct payment

Market traders’ parking permits cost:

• £450 (12 months)
• £270 (6 months)
• £160 (3 months)

Discounts

There is a 75% discount on permits (excluding business multi vehicle permits, residents’ motorcycle permits and scratchcards) if a vehicle is fuelled by LPG (liquid petroleum gas) or electricity. This does NOT apply to dual fuel vehicles, which have both LPG and petrol/diesel.
