Removal of vehicles from the public highway

If you believe that your vehicle has been removed from the public highway or a LBTH housing estate please contact TRACE on 020 7747 4747. This is a 24 hour service.

If the council has removed your vehicle, we have a statutory duty to inform TRACE about the details of any removal. TRACE will be able to confirm if they have been notified of any removal and in turn will provide you with details of our vehicle car pound at Leven Road.

TRACE will also inform motorists if their vehicle has been removed by anyone else e.g. police, private removal company operating on behalf of THCH, Poplar HARCA or other privately managed estate. TRACE will also tell motorists the location of the pound their vehicle has been removed to.

If your vehicle has been taken to the Leven Road Car Pound then you will need to visit in person to pay the relevant fees and collect your vehicle. You will also need to supply one of the following documents that identifies you as the owner of the vehicle before we will release the vehicle:

  • The V5 document
  • A valid insurance document (cover note or comprehensive cover allowing a family member or partner to drive the vehicle)
  • Copy of the lease or hire agreement
  • The tear off section of the Log Book is acceptable. This is normally produced when the vehicle has been recently obtained, and the customer must be asked to confirm they have insurance cover. If the customer confirms the vehicle is not insured, the vehicle cannot be released until insurance is produced.

Payment should be by cash or credit/debit card (not American Express).

We are open Monday to Sunday, 8am - 11pm (Please note: Cashiers stop taking money 15 minutes before the car pound closes)
