If you would like to formally celebrate the birth and naming of your child in the presence of family and friends, we offer a range of personalised baby naming ceremonies.

Open: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 9.30am - 12.30pm and 1.30pm - 4.30pm.  Wednesday 9.30am -11.30am and 2pm - 4.30pm.           

Walk-in and appointments system

The hours of availability for births/deaths registrations and notifications of marriage/civil partnership are changing. 

From Monday August 18, 2014 the new hours of availability will be

Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday:

Walk-in service - 9.30am to 11.30am
Appointments - 2pm to 4.30pm

Thursday and Friday:

For births

Walk-in service: 9.30am to 11.30am
Appointments: 2pm to 4.30pm

For notices of marriage and civil partnerships

Appointments are available from 9.30am to 4pm.

You do not need an appointment to register a death; please enquire if you would like to book one.

The walk-in service operates on a first come, first serve basis.   

We reserve the right to suspend this service once maximum capacity of registrations has been reached.

Please note: Non-Tower Hamlets residents must contact us to arrange an appointment. Your appointment will be rescheduled if you are more than five minutes late.

The nearest Underground station is Bow Road on the District Line or Metropolitan Line. Alternatively go to Bow Church on the Docklands Light Railway. When you come out of either station, turn to your right and continue walking down Bow Road.

The register office is on bus routes: 25, 8 and 108.
