Health & safety
The council provides a health and safety service which carries
out regular checks on offices, shops, warehouses and leisure
centres. The council also works with works with factories and other
industrial operations to ensure that safety and healthy working
conditions exist for all employees and members of the public
visiting the premises. We also investigate workplace accidents,
complaints about safety in the workplace and carry out inspections
of business premises.
We also have a food safety team which is responsible for the
inspection of food retailers and providers in the borough.
Automatic fire
alarms
The local fire authority can provide advice to
residents and business on the installation of automatic fire alarms
and on the testing of alarming systems following installation.

for the inspection of food retailers and providers in the borough.
The team ensures that the food hygiene and quality being made
available meets legal requirements.
Food safety
regulations

businesses to ensure that all their activities are carried out in a
hygienic way, making it an offence to supply food which is unsafe
or harmful to human health. Tower Hamlets council is responsible
