Community advice

These pages provide useful information and help to deal with many of the issues that we face in everyday life.

You can find information and advice on your rights and entitlements, through a range of sources including local advice agencies, solicitors, websites and telephone advice lines.

Community and day centres

Adults Health and Wellbeing have six day centres within the borough that assist people to live their lives at home and within the community.

Community grants

The Council recognises the unique position of local voluntary and community groups in supporting residents as well as providing services for them. There is a range of funding opportunities available to local groups.

Community plan

The Tower Hamlets Partnership has refreshed its community plan through to 2020. It is based on consultation with local people, businesses, third sector and statutory organisations about their hopes and aspirations for the borough, as well as research and information about the way our borough is changing.

Translating and interpreting services

If you use services provided or arranged by adult health and wellbeing or children services social work teams, and need to discuss something with a member of staff who does not speak your language, we can provide an interpreter to allow you to understand each other.

Welfare rights advice

The council funds a number of voluntary organisations to deliver advice services to provide advice and information on a range of welfare rights.

The Claim the Max project is part funded by the council and offers benefit advice sessions at various centres in Tower Hamlets.

Young people

Young people can access advice on a whole range of issues from drugs and sexual health to careers by searching the council’s young person’s website amp.
