Disabilities
Tower Hamlets Council provides care, support
and assistance to people with physical or learning disabilities
that live in the borough. The council is committed to enabling
disabled people to maintain their independence at home and in the
community, with services ranging from giving advice and information
through to long-term residential care.
The council also has a Children with
Disabilities Team which provides support, advice and information to
families, carers and other professionals who are involved in caring
for children whose disability has a significant impact on their day
to day lives.
Needs assessment by
social services
Social services can carry out an assessment of the needs of the
a person cared for, and can provide practical support through
direct services such as care at home, day services or financial
assistance to pay for independent support services.
