Getting a cycle
Take a cycle, ride it where you like, then return it, ready for the next person. Bikes are available 24 hours a day, all year round. It’s self-service and there’s no booking. Just turn up and go. It’s best for short journeys in or around the borough.
How to hire a bike
- Become a member online or
- Buy access at any docking station with a credit or debit card, as a casual user.
Consider becoming a member if you think you will use the Santander Cycle Hire scheme regularly – you’ll receive a cycle hire key (£3) which gives quick and easy access to any cycle directly at the docking point.
You pay for the right to hire a cycle (access fee) and for the amount of time you’ve got it (usage).
Usage costs are the same whether you’re a member or not, though members can buy the most cost-effective (annual) access. The costs are shown by clicking on www.tfl.gov.uk/santandercycles then click on ‘costs’.
If you have any other queries or concerns you can call the Santander Cycles contact centre on 0845 026 3630 (open 7am - 10pm). The contact centre will also be able to advise about how to deal with lost, stolen or damaged bicycles.
