Residential care for children
The council has two children’s homes, which
provide 24 hour care for looked after children. The children's
homes provide respite care, shorter term and longer term
care. The staff teams are a committed group of people who work
with the outcomes framework of every child matters to provide
excellent day to day care for children. The homes aim to help young
people do as well as they can in their education, enjoy good
health, keep in touch with family and friends and also support with
preparation for independence.
The children’s homes are aimed at children and
young people who need accommodation as looked after children. It is
a service which is based in the community and we do not widely
publicise the addresses of our children's homes.
The children’s homes are inspected by OFSTED
twice yearly and are bound by the regulations and standards for
children's homes which are enshrined in the Children Act 2004.
The service does not have customer access
points as it can only be accessed by young people assessed as
needing accommodation through a social work assessment.
