Parental Engagement Programme
This programme is targeted at parents and takes place in schools
over three hours a week, for 10 weeks.
Parents can access the following:
- An evaluation of your current skills and experience
- Discussions around the type of jobs you are interested
in
- Help to get the job you want
- Help to build up your confidence
- Help to write a CV, covering letters and complete application
forms
- Information on childcare support
- A chance to share experiences with other parents
At the end of 10 weeks you will be registered with an SPA
advisor at Skillsmatch who will help you in your job search and
career development.
The current PE course for the
spring term is being delivered at the following
venues:
- St Peter's Primary
School for Laps 3&4
- Old Palace Primary school for
Laps 5&6
- Cubitt Town Junior and Infant
Primary School for Laps 7& 8
For the summer, winter
and autumn terms, the following schools have been
indentified: St Peter's Primary
School, Cubitt Town Junior
and Infant Primary School, and Lawdale School.

Construction
Skillsmatch runs a job brokerage service for construction
companies and supports local residents to gain access into the
industry. We offer a variety of training opportunities from CSCS
cards to plant training dependent on candidate needs and
experience. Skillsmatch has ongoing recruitment relationships
with contractors in and around Canary Wharf, contractors on the
East London Line and construction company vacancies.

Security
Our security course is a one-week course
accommodating 12 delegates. Those successfully completing the
course will come away with an SIA Licence. Modules of the
course can include: Door Supervision or Static guarding,
communication and conflict management and First Aid. Anyone
interested in applying for this course will need to
have five-year checkable references and five years of
address history. Due to the nature of strict licensing
criteria there may be restrictions to bearers of
certain criminal convictions. On successful completion of the
course, all candidates are assisted with job brokerage.

Comensura
Any candidates wishing to do temporary
secretarial/administration work with the London Borough of Tower
Hamlets can register with Skillsmatch. We receive all
temporary secretarial/administration vacancies for the borough
before any other agencies thus creating an excellent opportunity
for any local candidates registered with Skillsmatch to access
temporary jobs in local government.
Candidates should ideally have one years’
administration/office experience with intermediate level IT
skills. A temporary contract can be anything from 1 day to just
under a year. Salaries range from £8-14 per hour.

Teaching Assistant Course
Skillsmatch hold three courses per annum
at the PDC (Professional Development Centre) at Mile
End. Courses can accommodate up to 30 people and run for a
period of 16 weeks. Two mornings per week are spent
in the classroom and two in local schools putting classroom
learning into practice. On successful completion of this course
candidates will gain an SWiS Level 2 accreditation.
Anyone going forward for this course must be able to pass an
Enhanced CRB check and have a GCSE Maths & English at Grades
A-C (or equivalent). Courses are advertised in East End
Life.

Transitional Employment
Graduate Placement Scheme
The Skillsmatch Graduate Placement Programme
is aimed at bridging the gap between the challenges of leaving
university and starting full time employment. It gives the
graduate an opportunity to gain valuable experience that is often a
taster for a specific employment field. Trainees receive a
weekly allowance to cover travel and sundry expenses for the
duration of the programme.
