Mile End Climbing Wall
Based in the Ecology Park, Mile End Climbing Wall is probably
the most established dedicated climbing wall in the country; many
of Britain's top climbers and mountaineers have trained here. It is
housed inside an old pipe engineering works, which is located
within Mile End Park, a five minute walk from Mile End Tube
Station.
The relaxed and informal social atmosphere created by the staff,
regular customers and clubs; in addition to the services available
make it a great place for climbing in London.
The Mile End Climbing Wall is maintained by the registered
charity 'DEVELOPMENT through CHALLENGE' promoting personal
development through challenging physical activity, especially to
the young person.
The wall offers something for everyone from the complete novice
through to a seasoned professional. A range of indoor, outdoor and
children's courses are provided and the wall is widely used by
other development charities, groups, schools and recreational
users.
The wall provides a range of different climbing surfaces
bolt-ons, featured walls, slabs or over hanging walls. There is
extensive Bouldering at all levels, Top-Roped and Lead-Climbing as
well as more advanced Training areas - "The Board Room" and "Monkey
House".
