Chisenhale Gallery and Victoria Park are collaborating with The Royal Observatory to run two days of free public workshops for adults investigating Solar Time over the Summer Solstice weekend. Led by the Public Astronomer Marek Kukula, participants will learn how to tell time by the sun and understand how the movements in the solar system affect shifts on Earth. The workshops are part of artist Cathy Haynes’s research project, Stereochron Island, for her Chisenhale Gallery Victoria Park Residency 2013-14. To find out more about this and related events for the project, visit the Calendar page at www.chisenhale.org.uk.

Workshops are free but booking is strongly advised. You can attend one or both days. Please contact mail@chisenhale.org.uk to make a booking.

People are welcome to join the group for an opportunity to be involved in learning about and growing vegetables, fruits and flowers right in the middle of Victoria Park! The group have been given their very own area of the park and from now on are exercising their green fingers to spruce up the area as they see fit and turn it into a new green space growing flowers, herbs, vegetables and whatever takes their fancy.

The group meet on Sunday and Thursday afternoons at the Whitening Yard (adjacent to the model boating lake).
