The Victoria Park
Project

Park works are in full swing
Victoria Park is now a hive of activity with multi-million pound
improvement works in full swing.
One of London's most important historic open spaces, the park is
being restored to it's former glory thanks to a £12 million
investment.
Predominantly funded by the council, with the help from
both the Big Lottery and Heritage Lottery funds,This represents the
biggest investment in the park since its creation in the 1840s.
New structures are already emerging, including the rebuilt
Chinese pagoda on the newly created island in the west lake
and a new community facility and cafe, 'The Hub Building' in the
eastern side of the park.
Replicas of the Dogs of Alcibiades have been created
and are standing guard on their plinths near Bonner gate.
The Burdetts Coutts fountain will also undergo a make over with
new floral displays and mirror pools surrounding this much loved
monument.
Children will benefit from two new exciting playgrounds, the
Victoria and Alexandra playground in the west side and the Pools
playground in the east side with equipment including based around
natural play.

New wheelpark for Victoria Park
As part of the Victoria Park Project, we are planning to provide
a new and improved wheelpark for skateboarders and bmx
riders, in the eastern section of the park. This will
replace the outdated wheelpark facility located nearby the old
lido by Grove Road.
We have held several meetings with local
skateboarders and bmx riders to ensure their needs are incorporated
into the new design.
