Temporary permits
If you live in the borough and you need a
permit to park a vehicle on-street for any reason you can apply for
a temporary resident parking permit. If you live in a car free
property you can only apply for a permit if you can provide written
proof to show that repairs or maintenance work has to be carried
out at the property.

Where you can park
You can park all day in the zone that you live
in, but the permit is only valid in parking bays signed “Resident
Permit Holders Only”, “Permit Holders Only”, or “Permit Holders or
Pay at Machine”.
The zone written on your permit will be made
up of a letter and number. You can park all day in the zone
where the ‘letter’ is displayed. As an example, if the zone printed
on your permit is D1 you can park all day in either D1 or D2.
You may also visit other zones in Tower
Hamlets for up to three hours per day. During this period (which
commences when you first park in the visited zone) you may make
further journeys using parking bays signed “Resident Permit Holders
Only”, “Permit Holders Only”, or “Permit Holders or Pay at Machine”
to park. However, if you use your parking permit in that zone after
3 hours have elapsed you may be issued with a Penalty Charge
Notice. You are not limited to visiting one zone a day, but you are
limited to a maximum of 3 hours in any zone.
How much does a permit cost?
The cost of a temporary permit is £5 a
day.
