Pay and Park

Pay and display machines are used borough wide to allow visitors to buy tickets for our pay and park facilities

Charges

The borough is divided into mini zones:-

• A1, A2, A5, A6, C1, C2 charged at £4.00 per hour
• A3, A4, C3, C4 charged at £3.50 per hour
• B1, B2, B3, B4, D1, D2 charged at £3.00 per hour

The maximum stay is between 2 and 4 hours (please see relevant machine) vehicles cannot return within an hour. The minimum time that can be bought is 15 minutes and tickets should be bought not more than five minutes after parking (not in advance)

Free market parking

To encourage the use of our local markets, visitor can now enjoy 2 hours of free parking in Pay & display bays in the surrounding  areas of  Roman Road, Chrisp Street, Brick Lane and Columbia Road Markets on Saturday and Sundays.

How to display ticket

• The P&D ticket should be displayed clearly visibly on the dashboard or windscreen
• P&D tickets are only valid in the zone in which they are purchased (a zone A ticket can only be displayed in mini zone A)

Enforcement hours

Enforcement Hours are displayed on each machine as control hours differ from zone to zone.

How to pay

Paying cash

All our machines accept 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 the machines at present do not accept any foreign coins including the Euro.

The Pay and Display machines in our major street accept major credit cards.

Park and phone

Pay by phone parking service will be available from August 2009

From August 2009 all London Borough of Tower Hamlets ‘on street’ pay and display and shared use bays will have a “Pay by phone” service. Find out more about "Pay by phone" parking service (pdf 55kb)

What if the machine is faulty?

We maintain the machines on a regular basis to minimise this however faults can be reported by calling 0207 364 6820/6586

We recommend that if a machine is faulty that you use the next nearest machine to obtain another ticket. (they are normally within a 5 minute walk)

We insist on this to prevent machines deliberately being vandalised to obtain free parking.

I have lost money in the machine

If you have lost money in the machine please do not put anymore in use and alternative machine. You can report this to us on the above number and you must write to:
