Current planning policy
The Council is pleased to announce that the Core Strategy has
been found sound subject to minor changes. This decision and
accompanying changes are stated within the Planning Inspector’s
binding report. The Council would like to take this opportunity to
thank everyone who has participated in the preparation of the
Core Strategy.
Understanding planning policy
Planning policy consists of a series of documents that describe
and manage planning and development in the borough. The
‘development plan’ for Tower Hamlets forms the basis for
determining planning applications.
The Local Development Framework (LDF) is a new
system for the preparation of development plans.
