How to obtain copies of completions and approvals

A completion certificate will be issued confirming compliance with building regulations once the building work has been satisfactorily finished and the inspection charge has been paid.

When the property is to be sold, part of the process is for a land charges search to be carried out. If building regulation information is revealed on the search the solicitors will normally request further information from building control relating to approvals and completion certificates.

For an additional charge (pdf 164k) building control will retrieve and research the files and archives and provide copies of these documents if there are any available.

There is a 10 day target for replying to these type of enquiries from date of receipt.
