Reuse & recycling centre
To support local recycling points, we have a Reuse &
Recycling Centre at Northumberland Wharf where residents and trade
users can recycle a wide range of materials or drop off
rubbish.
Items that can be taken to this site for reuse or recycling
are listed below.
Please note that we only take fluorescent tubes, TVs, fridges,
engine oil and gas cylinders from the public, not trade, and we do
not accept tyres at the site.

Other information
- Bags of compost made from green garden waste are available for
sale at a subsidised priced of £3.26 for a 30 litre bag.
- Compost bins and wormeries are also available for purchase at
this site for £5 each. Please bring proof that you live in Tower
Hamlets to purchase one.
- Any bikes taken to the site, are taken away and any defective
parts are replaced to make the bike roadworthy. The bikes can be
purchased by the general public, directly from the repairer,
ReCycling, 110 Elephant Road London SE17. (By the Elephant and

Opening hours
Monday to Friday: 8am to 8pm
Saturday and Sunday: 9am to 6pm
Bank holidays: 9am to 4.30pm
Vehicle restrictions and commercial charges
All vehicles over 1.94 metres will incur the commercial charge for
tipping of general waste (there is a height barrier in
operation).
The site is available for the deposit of trade waste for which
there is a charge.
Discretion will be operated by the site supervisors in relation
to private four wheel drive vehicles and other similar vehicles
using the site.

Public transport
DLR: Take the DLR to Blackwall station and walk for
approximately 10 minutes.
Bus: Take the D6 or D7. Closest stop is Aspen Way
bus stop on Prestons Road, approximately 2 minutes walk away.
